R.R.R.

The three R's in life, reduce, reuse, and recycle, are more than just words; they are a way of life.

Reuse products- Americans consume more than 1 million plastic bags per minute. This can be easily controlled by reusing bags or investing in reusable canvas bags.

Reduce- Each minute you keep the faucet running, you are are wasting 2.5 gallons of water. Turn off the faucet, keep some water for the fish in the sea.

Recycle- In less than 60 days, an aluminum can can be recycled and put back onto store shelves, or it can be sent to a landfill and take over 500 years to break down... The first option is better ;)

What are you doing for the world?
How does your footprint look?

Up

Up is a delightful film about a journey a man takes with a young boy. The movie will definitely make you cry, laugh, and analyze your life.

I feel as though Up is a umber one film because it is just amazing quality. The characters are defined, the plot is well crafted and the movie just expresses what Pixar is all about. The movie begins with an amazing montage of the main character's life, how he got to be who he is today and the moments in his life that define his character, and then continues to slowly unravel the rest of the story. You can't help but fall in love with the characters and you begin to find yourself at the edge of your seat as the plot thickens; you root for the characters all the way.

The creative process that animators, writers, and film makers underwent is clearly showcased in the film and shows why this film is a winner of multiple Academy Awards. This is a must see.

Britney Spears Live: The Femme Fatale Tour

Recently, I saw "Britney Spears Live: The Femme Fatale Tour" on Epix and I have got to say, the movie was alright. Having already seen the concert in person and through numerous clips on YouTube, I appreciate the fact that a company and Britney's team paid to have the concert documented. However, Epix chose a couple of weird angles, that sometimes became irritating. During some numbers such as "Hold It Against Me," Epix chose to have audience shots whilst Britney was doing less-than-stellar moves. During the only dance-break in "Big Fat Bass," Epix chose to show "Will.i.am" instead of Britney who killed the moves during that show. Things like this have upset Britney's ever-growing fan base.
But the one thing that "urks" most viewers, is the obvious dubbing of audio. The fan's cries and cheers have been silenced out (only heard during moments that are meant to have excessive cheers e.g. pyrotechnics, dance breaks).
Britney's vocals from the live show have also been removed and have been replaced with studio tracks (this has cause an uproar, even though this isn't the first time Brit's camp has dubbed her vocals during DVD specials).

For a concert event, EPIX has captured all that is necessary to make this DVD Britney-fied. I truly recommend it to all, even if you're not a Britney fan. The songs and endless excitement will have you dancing on you feet.

The Princess is back.

The Muppets

The Muppets!

I recently saw the Muppets movie and it didn't hit the spot for me. No offense to any Muppet lovers out there but I just wasn't feeling it. The movie seemed pointless. Like I sat in the theatre biting my nails (a habit I need to stop) and I just couldn't do it. It was cute, don't get me wrong, I mean I was able to relate to Ms. Piggy, but I left the theatre thinking "ok... that was a waste of two hours." The movie seemed irrational. Like I just didn't like how Jason Segel was playing a man who had a muppet of a brother. The movie was combining fantasy and reality and it wasn't mixing well.

Then again, maybe I disliked the film because I didn't want to go. Who knows? Odds are when my sister buys it on DVD I'll watch it again.

Until then....

Angles of Booker T

This is a short video using popular "shot types and angles" for filming. This video also highlights widely used techniques for moving cameras.

This was filmed on an iPhone 4s with no tripod.

Movie Review.... part one?

This past weekend I visited the lovely AMC at NorthPark and saw The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part One. We all know the story, Bella is in love with Edward and kinda in love with Jacob, Jacob is in love with Bella, and Edward and Jacob just hate each other. This film starts off with a bang; a wedding fit for a king and queen and quickly revs up excitement and anticipation in the viewers hearts and minds.

The happy couple set off to Rio for their glorious honeymoon and long story short, a pregnancy occurs.
Now since this movie is based off of the books, most off the people visiting the theatre knows what is bound to happen. A "demon" baby begins to grow inside of Bella and basically is killing her since the baby is a vampire baby and is much stronger than Bella. The rest of the movie deals with the Cullens attempting to save Bella and Jacob being stupid and annoying (I'm biased. Shoot me. Team Edward ftw). The movie ends at an all time, high action, nail biting, eye twitching, seizure inducing, climatic scene that leaves the viewer wanting more... Hence the Part One.

Part two is set to be released next year and I can assure you, it will be just as amazing.

Be sure to catch The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn Part One at a theatre near you.

Is this just a detour?

Here I am again talking to myself sitting at a red light. Both hands on the wheel how am I supposed to feel so much running through my mind. First you want to be free, now you say you need me, giving mixed signals and signs. It's so hard to let you in thinking you might slam the brakes again.
